When people ask “who are you?”  I answer, “I’m a Rachel!”  Because how can you answer that question without going into detailed explanation, unless you gave some superficial answer about how people view you, not necessarily who you are.

So, who am I?  I’m a photographer, but that’s not who I am.  I’m a wife, but that’s not who I am either. I’m an artist, and that’s closer.  An artist is a completely random person.  Sometimes I develop a pattern (like with my photo business), but that phenomenon even surprises me.  As an artist, I enjoy capturing life–all kinds of life.  I enjoy spending time with my husband.  I also like hiking, kayaking, skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, cooking (only to eat good food, not because I like cooking)–and I hate running.

FOL photography was a business created out of default.  It just sort of happened, until my husband came along and gave it some structure.  When people ask how my business is successful, I tell them it’s because of my “secret weapon.”  My secret weapon is definitely Randy, giving me a good kick-in-the-butt.  Honestly, it’s true.  However, I think I’m good for Randy too.  I make sure he has fun in life.
